Learn To Skate

This program is a beginning ice skating program designed to be fun, challenging and rewarding. Participation in the Learn-to-Skate program will enable beginning skaters of all ages & abilities to learn the fundamentals of the sport, and participate in our bi-annual ice shows and competitions.

$32 $34
Schedule: Lessons are once a week for 25 minutes for six weeks unless otherwise specified. Pre-school/Tots classes are 20 minutes once a week for 6 weeks unless otherwise specified.

E. Forward fishes – 6-8 in a row

G. Snowplow stop
H. Rocking horse – 2-3 in a row
I. Two foot hop in place. (optional)
SKATE 2
A. Forward one foot glides – right and left
B. Backward two foot glides
C. Backward fishes – 6-8 in a row
D. Two foot turn from forward to backward in place
E. Moving snowplow stop
F. Forward pumps around a circle – right/left
G. Forward inside pivot – right/left
SKATE 3
A. Forward stroking showing correct use of the blade
B. Backward pumps around a circle right/left
C. Hockey stop
D. Moving forward to backward two foot turn, clockwise and counter
E. Backward one foot glides – right and left
F. Forward Slalom
G. Two foot skip – up to 2 revolutions
SKATE 4
A. Forward outside edge on a circle- right and left
B. Forward inside edge on a circle- right and left
C. Forward crossovers, clockwise and counter
D. Forward outside three-turn right and left from a stand still position
E. Beginning two-foot to one-foot spin
F. Side hop-both directions
G. Bunny hop
SKATE 5
A. Backward outside edge on a circle-right and left
B. Backward inside edge on a circle-right and left
C. Backward crossovers, clockwise and counter
D. Beginning one foot spin-up to 3 revolutions, optional entry and free foot position
E. Forward inside 3-turn from a stand still position-R/L
F. Mohawk from stand still position-R/L
G. Backward outside edge landing position-R/L
SKATE 6
A. Forward inside three turn-right and left, from a stand still position
B. Moving backward to forward two foot turn on a circle, clockwise and counter
C. T-stop – right or left
D. Moving forward outside 3-turn on a circle-R/L
E. Forward arabesque/spiral on a straight line, R/L
F. Forward lunge, right or left
G. Waltz jump- from stand still position
FREE SKATE 1
A. Advanced forward stroking
B. Forward outside and inside consecutive edges-4-6
C. Moving back outside 3-turn on a circle-R/L
D. Moving forward inside 3-turn on a circle-R/L
E. Two foot scratch spin from 2-3 back crossovers
F. Combination move: Three back crossovers into an outside edge, landing position step forward onto a forward outside glide-R/L
G. Waltz jump-from two to three backward crossovers
FREE SKATE 2
A. Basic backward outside and backward inside consecutive edges- 4-6 edges.
B. One foot scratch spin
C. Combination Move: Two forward crossovers; Mohawk; step behind; step cross in front; step to a forward inside edge Repeat twice-Clock wise/Counter clockwise
D. Moving backward inside 3- turns on a circle-R/L
E. Waltz jump, side hop, waltz jump sequence
F. Toe loop G. Half flip
FREE SKATE 3
A. Forward crossovers in a figure eight D. Salchow
B. Backward crossovers in a figure eight E. Half Lutz Jump
C. Back scratch spin F. Waltz jump/Toe loop combination
G. Salchow/ Toe loop combination
